DEPUTY CASTLE COMPLETES ANNUAL K9 RECERTIFICATION TRAINING

Marion County Sheriff's Deputy Brett Castle recently completed the yearly recertification training with his canine Rico. Deputy Castle and K9 Rico traveled to Houston, Texas August 7-9, and went through the twenty (20) hour annual recertification training. Deputy Castle advised the training is an annual requirement for both he and his canine. The training was conducted by Focus K9 trainers and consisted of one-on-one training sessions focused on patrol functions, narcotics detection, tracking, and handler protection. Deputy Castle has worked as a Marion County Deputy since September 2017 and has served as the department's canine handler since 2020.
