Marion County Sheriff Gregg Alexander announced that his department has started the process of becoming an accredited law enforcement agency. Sheriff Alexander stated the department is participating in the Arkansas Law Enforcement Accreditation Program (ALEAP) to attain Tier II accreditation offered through the Arkansas Association of Chiefs of Police (AACP). To obtain Tier II accreditation, a law enforcement agency is required to adopt model policies that are applicable by function, with the AACP being the certifying body. The Sheriff stated the department began the process by budgeting accreditation funds in the 2024 budget and hopes to complete the accreditation process before the end of the year.
