DEATH INVESTIGATIONS
Marion County Sheriff Gregg Alexander reports that Investigators opened two (2) death investigations in unrelated incidents on Wednesday, March 19th. The first incident involved a structure fire that occurred on 03/19/25 at 5:56P. Sheriff Alexander stated the Sheriff's Office Dispatch received a call reporting a structure fire at a residence on Marion County (MC) road 7058 near Flippin. Fire Department personnel arrived on scene and found a structure fully engulfed in flames. After the fire was extinguished, the body of an unidentified person was found inside the residence. A Sheriff's Office Investigator and a Fire Investigator from the Mountain Home Fire Department (MHFD) conducted interviews and processed the scene. The body was recovered and transferred to the Marion County Coroner pending transfer to the State Medical Examiner for an autopsy to obtain positive identification of the victim, and to determine the cause and manner of death. Other responding agencies included the Flippin Fire Department (FFD), Yellville Volunteer Fire Department (YFVD), Fairview Volunteer Fire Department (FVFD), and the Cotter Fire Department (CFD).
Sheriff Alexander stated deputies later responded to a residence on Marion County (MC) road 8017 in the Peel community in response to an attempted suicide call. He stated the call came into the Sheriff's Office Dispatch on 03/19/25, at approximately 7:27P. Sheriff Alexander stated deputies and Emergency Medical personnel responded to the scene and subsequently transported a juvenile to North Arkansas Regional Medical Center (NARMC), who was later pronounced dead at NARMC. The Boone County Coroner responded and will transfer the body to the State Medical Examiner for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death. Investigators responded to both the scene and NARMC to conduct interviews and process evidence.
Sheriff Alexander stated both incidents are under investigation and updates will be released as additional information becomes available.
