The Sheriff's Office is notifying the public that a sex offender has registered with the Sheriff's Office and is now residing in Marion County.  He has been assessed as a Level 2 Offender (high risk to re-offend).

NAME:  Matthew Mears                            

DATE OF BIRTH: 05/25/2001 

HOME ADDRESS: 279 Mulberry Trail, Yellville, AR  72687                          

The offender was convicted of Sexual Assault 2nd degree and Sex Indecency with a minor in Arkansas on March 6, 2020.  These offenses involved the offender engaging in sexual contact with a minor under the age of fourteen. 

This person is not wanted by law enforcement at this time.  This notification is not intended to increase fear; rather it is our belief that an informed public is a safer public.  This information cannot be used to threaten, intimidate, or harass Registered Sex Offenders.  Citizen abuse will not be tolerated.  Such abuse could potentially end law enforcement's ability to do community notification.
