Detention Officer

JOB ANNOUNCEMENT FOR DETENTION OFFICER

The Detention Officer works under the general direction and supervision of the Jail Administrator and Detention Center Supervisor, and is responsible for booking in/out, monitoring, and supervising the inmates at the Marion County Detention Center.  Separate specific duty assignments may be given to each Detention Officer on each shift. The person holding the position of Detention Officer must successfully complete the basic jail standards course offered by the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy as well as the ACIC Computer Terminal Operations Course through the Arkansas Crime Information Center (ACIC) within twelve (12) months of employment. Applicants must be at least eighteen (18) years of age and be able to pass a thorough background investigation as well as a physical and psychological examination. This position is governed by Detention Center policies and procedures, as well as state and federal laws.
